Hezikiah Haskell House

Visit the Hezikiah Haskell House in 2023. It's an Important Part of Austin's Black History.

The Clarksville Community Development Corporation (CCDC) operates the Haskell House as a museum about historic Clarksville, a former freedom colony that was founded in 1871. The House is open to visitors from 1-4 on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month, but for December, when it’s not open. Visits at other times can be scheduled by appointment. Admission is free.

A Haskell House docent will be on hand to tell you about the history of the House and the people who lived there and the long and fascinating history of Clarksville. The docent will also tell you about the many old photos hanging on the walls of the House.

The House is also available for small parties and meetings in exchange for a donation to the CCDC, a 501c3 organization. Visit the Contact page on the CCDC’s website for information about how to schedule.
