Grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation Helps the CCDC Fund Construction of a New Affordable Home in Clarksville

The CCDC is proud to announce that its the recipient of a $30,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, Inc. The grant will help the organization complete the construction of an affordable single-family rental home at 1611 West 10th in Clarksville. American YouthWorks is the general contractor for othe project.

Initially, in 2020, the CCDC expected to fully finance the construction of the house with money from the Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC) and the Old West Austin Neighborhood Association (OWANA). However, COVID delayed the start of the project, and once work finally began, the CCDC quickly realized that those funds were not enough because the cost of building materials had skyrocketed. Not wanting to go into debt to make up its financial shortfall, the organization applied to the Bank of America Foundation and was elated to learn recently that its grant application was successful. Kim O’Brien, the CCDC’s board secretary and manager of the 1611 project explains, "COVID-related delays set our construction schedule back 21 months, and in that time, costs rose dramatically. The Bank of America Charitable Foundation grant helps us complete construction. It’s a godsend."
