Haskell House Advisory Group Was Part of This Year’s Juneteenth Parade
Clarksville and the Haskell House were proudly represented in this year’s Juneteenth Parade by members of the Haskell House Advisory Group (AG), most of whom have ancestral ties to Hezikiah Haskell. Pictured below from left to right they are: Otishia Rhambo-Montgomery, Felecia Miller, Hannah Michael, Znobea Williams, and Stephanie Lang. Seated to the far left is Cecilia Glasgo, Znobea William’s mother.
The beautiful banner displayed on the parade float was paid for by Astound Broadband. The tee-shirts worn by the members were donated by CV 1871, and Hannah Michaels made the old-fashioned fans members used to help stay cool during the parade. Also, Greater Galilee Baptist Church donated a trailer and truck for the parade.
According to Felecia Miller, there was a lot of interest in the image on the banner. She noted, “That gave us an opportunity to share some oral history about the Haskell House and Clarksville. Some attendees expressed an interest in learning more and contributing.” In other words, being part of the Juneteenth parade was an excellent way for AG members to get the word out about our historic neighborhood.
