1817A West 10th Gets a Facelift Inside and Out

With the help of a $10,000 grant from the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation, a $50,000 donation from anonymous donor and a donation of $20,000 from a CCDC board member, the CCDC has completed a major renovation of its affordable property at 1817A West 10th Street, a structure that contributes to the Clarksville National Register Historic District.

The total cost of the renovation was nearly $105,000. The CCDC invested $35,000 of its own money into the project.

Work on 1817A West 10th included, among other things:

• Replacing rotten exterior wood

• Foundation leveling

• Extensive drywall repairs

• Painting inside and out

• Redoing all of the floors

• Totally remodeling both the kitchen and bath

• Installing all new lighting, ceiling fans and mini-blinds

• Repairing the front porch and constructing a small landing deck at the back of the house

• Repairing the historic wood windows

• Replacing the hot water heater

• Installing a new privacy fence

• Building a new sidewalk

• Tree work and landscaping

The CCDC also provided the residents of 1817A with temporary housing in another of its properties while the renovation was going on and gave the tenants a move-out and move-in allowance.
