The Younger Generation Won Big at This Year’s CCDC Ice Cream Social
Sunday, June 5th Clarksville residents gathered at the Haskell House for the CCDC’s ever popular Ice Cream Social. Some brought home-made ice cream to enter in the always competitive Best Ice Cream in Clarksville competition, hoping to be crowned Ice Cream King or Queen of Clarksville. Others showed up to sample the entries and cast a vote for their favorite.
The ice cream flavors entered in this year’s competition were: Very Vanilla, Deconstructed Strawberry Shortcake, Cherry, and Sourdough. Although they were all delicious, voters choose Very Vanilla as their favorite and the Deconstructed Strawberry Shortcake ice cream as the runner up.
Ten year-old Ellis Tran made the Very Vanilla ice cream. He followed in the footsteps of his father Gregory, who is a three-time Ice Cream Social winner.
Beckett Raftus, who is nearly 16, took home first prize last year. According to Monica Wu, Ellis’ mother, her son was inspired to enter the competition this year after seeing Beckett crowned Clarksville’s King of Ice Cream in 2023.
